I am Alex Escobar, a Spaniard native to the beautiful paradise island of Menorca in Spain,I'm 41 years old at the present of opening this blog and I'm married with one son five years old; my wife is a Minangkabau from West Sumatra (the main ethnia of west sumatran province in Indonesia).
My background is Chemical engineering but my true passion is Sumatra and Indonesia travel in general, ancient cultures, fauna and flora of this magical country that I have started to love so much.
I have been for the last ten years traveling from Spain to Indonesia, spending six months every year travelling all around West Sumatra and Jambi and Riau provinces, travelling in West Java and living for many months and doing street photography in Jakarta, capital of Indonesia.
With this blog I will try offer some more knowledge to anyone interested in know more about this magic country, I will offer some specialized tours to off beaten track areas, out form tourist traps, will try to show the best and most hidden secrets of Sumatra, witness a unique culture and costumes.
I join to make these tours together with Aldo Coluciello from Italy, a PH Doctors degree in Social Antropology and to Dally Sandradiputra, from Kerinci, president of BRIO Indonesia. We will try to show you the best of Sumatra and Java. I speak fluent indonesian and have a great knowledge of Indonesian culture and costumes. I married by Miangkabau tradition in Padang, west sumatran capital, eight years ago.
